The past week, I’ve been drawing and performing some much-needed maintenance. I’ve kind of neglected backing everything up as I’ve gone along. Not the pages, mind you, but the assets. I’m starting to make a database of word balloons, tails, font styles, art, page layouts, etc. Eventually, everything will just be just a drag-and-drop away.
My original goal was to draw my book traditionally. That changed the day I was injured. With my slight tremor and twitching, I had no other choice but to do it digitally. Over time, though, I’ve started to make the digital art feel just like my paper-drawn originals. Thankfully, with the drawing pad, not much had to change. I wouldn’t go back now if I had a choice, as I can do so much more on the computer than I could on paper. Plus, I don’t have to constantly scan artwork only to ink it later.
I use the computer as the tool it was designed to be. It’s just like a cane is to walking for me. I use it to make my life easier.
