Let’s stay on the TMNT kick I started yesterday.
Back in the 80’s, there was a character who guest-starred in the original toy line and series: Usagi Yojimbo, a samurai rabbit from medieval Japan. Created by Stan Sakai, Usagi actually predates the Turtles, debuting in comics in 1984. He’s appeared in three of the series over the years: first in the 1987 animated series, then in the 2003 series, and finally in the 2012 series. In every appearance, either the Turtles or Usagi are transported to the other’s dimension. At this point, he is practically the fifth Turtle.
Stan Sakai’s character has been a favorite of mine since his debut. His comics are still being made, with no reboots in sight, and they’re drawn by the man himself. They are some of my favorite comics of all time.
