If you can’t tell, some of my biggest influences are comics like Peanuts, Garfield, Heathcliff, and Calving & Hobbes. When people ask me to describe Salem Corners, I tell them it’s like an adult Scooby-Doo where everything is real, mixed with a bit of Looney Tunes and South Park for good measure.
I even call my comic a “comic-strip comic book.” It makes perfect sense if you think about it. I’m telling a story in a long format, but in a comic strip style, presented in a comic book form. I don’t know if anyone else does this, but I’ve found it really fits my voice and style.
My dream is to someday see it animated for TV. I’ve almost made it happen once, and hopefully I’ll get another chance before too long.
